Government meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will discuss a proposal from the Commissioner of Public Lands regarding the transfer of two parcels totaling 69 acres from the canceled 126-acre Power Plant timber sale from state trust lands to the natural climate solutions proviso during their weekly work session Monday.

If the commissioners concur, then the state Department of Natural Resources and a purchaser of the timber sale would work to find replacement acres for the state trust lands program.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• Opening of requests for proposals/qualifications related to hazard mitigation and climate resiliency planning.

• A resolution authorizing action on Current Use Assessment applications pursuant to Clallam County Code Chapter 27.08, Open Space.

• An amended agreement with the state Developmental Disabilities Administration for an additional $647,432 to provide services for persons with developmental disabilities through June 30, 2024.

• An extension to an agreement with the state Department of Veterans Affairs for $102,180 for a veteran support officer through June 30, 2025.

• A request for qualification for architectural/engineering consulting services to be received by 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13.

• Letters of support for the Sheriff’s Office’s Division of Emergency Management to seek NOAA grant funding for enhanced climate resilience for state Highway 112 and for the development of a comprehensive plan to address climate change on the Olympic Peninsula.

• The acquisition of a 1.915-acre right-of-way from Harvey Kailin for a fish barrier mitigation project on Hoko-Ozette Road.

• An agreement between the Department of Ecology for a grant to prepare a channel migration zone analysis for the Lower Elwha River, downstream from Olympic National Park, including Little River and Indian Creek.

• A review of the 2023 noxious weed and milfoil eradication presented by Cathy Lucero.

• A draft ordinance rescinding the county administrator contract ordinance 963 which has been superseded by county administrator contract ordinance 1001.

• A review of policy 120.3.2 regarding disruptive public comments with recommendation from the Municipal Research and Services Center.

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider a request from Josh Peters, Department of Community Development director, to reconvene the growth management steering committee when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.
