OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — A tree fell across U.S. Highway 101 at Lake Crescent, blocking traffic for about two hours.
Traffic was backed up in both directions starting at about noon as Washington State Department of Transportation worked to remove the tree.
Joe Irwin, spokesman for the Department of Transportation, said he did not know what caused the tree to fall but that no one appeared to be injured at the scene.
Washington State Patrol dispatchers said no vehicles struck the tree.
Olympic National Park workers had removed part of the tree by 2 p.m., allowing traffic to pass in alternating directions.
The road was cleared by 3 p.m.
