JOYCE — Trees downed by heavy snows knocked out power lines to Crescent Water Association’s water plant early Friday morning, taking with it weekend water service to its mostly Joyce-area residential customers.
Crescent Water and Clallam County Public Utility District crews were working around the clock to restore power to the plant off East Beach Road, association manager John Palzer said late Sunday afternoon.
“We were cutting trees with our own chain saws just to get into the plant,” Palzer said of the damage at the Lake Crescent facility on Friday.
Palzer said he was uncertain how many of the association’s 860 members were affected, but he knew many were left without water or had low pressure over the weekend.
Throughout system
“There is low water pressure throughout the system, and we’re working on that at the moment,” he said.
“Most of the weekend they have had water, but low pressure.”
Those in higher elevations were without water longer. Customers in lower elevation were primarily experiencing low water pressure, he said.
