SEQUIM — Sequim police investigated a false report that a Sequim High School student had a gun this morning.
Police Officer Maris Turner said that police were called at 10 a.m., and found the report to be false.
Turner said this morning that the school was locked down briefly, but clarified this afternoon that police only recommended a lockdown, and that school authorities did not lock the school down.
District spokeswoman Patsene Dashiell said this afternoon that “there was an incident but there was never a lockdown.”
The “word-of-mouth report” of a student with a gun was found to be untrue quickly, in less than 20 minutes, Turner said.
