PORT ANGELES — Ice skaters, from left, Julianna Getzin, 11, Ella Garcelon, 11, Myee Soisethg, 14, Emma Edwards, 8, and Keira Brown, 10, all of Port Angeles, take a break with cups of hot chocolate as the ice rink at the Port Angeles Winter Ice Village received a periodic resurfacing on Saturday.
Ice village organizers feared that the skating season would come to a premature end after a heavy blanket of snow collapsed the tent Wednesday morning. But after the wrecked tent was removed Thursday, skating officials decided to finish out the final weekend of skating under open air.
The final day of skating is set for Monday, after which the temporary rink and surrounding village will be dismantled for the season.
