PORT TOWNSEND – Starting today, the temporary passenger ferry service between Seattle and Port Townsend that began last week, and which was free over the weekend, will cost $6.70 per round trip.
That’s far below the actual per-passenger operating cost – to attract as many passengers as possible, the run is being subsidized by the state.
The Port Townsend-Seattle service will run until early January.
The ferry Snohomish, which holds 149 passengers, is serving the run between the Port Townsend Ferry Terminal and Seattle’s Pier 50 at Colman Dock.
The trip takes about 90 minutes each way.
