THERE ARE IMPORTANT primary elections in Port Townsend, Sequim, Port Angeles and some fire districts that cover unincorporated areas.

For example, two seats on the Port Townsend City Council, primary elections for commissioner in the ports of Port Angeles and Port Townsend, and a three-person race for a Port Angeles School District board seat.

And voting in the all-mail election is now in the final week.

A limited number of free printed copies are available at courthouses, city halls, senior centers and other public contact points in Port Townsend, Sequim and Port Angeles.

You can also pick up a “hard” copy at the PDN’s office at 305 W. First St. in downtown Port Angeles.

The county auditors in Jefferson and Clallam counties are reporting that ballot returns are around or less than 20 percent — that’s one in five voters.
