PORT TOWNSEND — Grant Street Elementary Principal Steve Finch has been selected as the Peninsula Region Distinguished Principal for the 2009-10 school year by the Elementary School Principals Association of Washington.
“Steve’s heart and love of elementary education is infused into his decision-making practices, systems of accountability and communication protocol,” Port Townsend High School Principal Carrie Ehrhardt said.
Finch has been a principal for 20 years, all at Grant Street Elementary.
“He is focused on what is best for each and every student under his leadership,” said Tom Opstad, superintendent of Port Townsend School District.
“His student-centered approach helps create a positive feeling in the building that is evident to everyone who enters Grant Street Elementary.”
Finch and the region’s other distinguished principals will be formally honored at the 2010 Association of Washington School Principals Conference on Oct. 3-5.
