Fire damages home on Golf Course Road in Port Angeles

None of the occupants injured in blaze

PORT ANGELES — A fire on Golf Course Road caused major damage to two rooms of a house but did not injure any of the occupants.

All of the occupants — two adults and one minor, along with two dogs — were out of the house in the 1800 block of South Golf Course Road when Clallam 2 Fire Rescue firefighters arrived after being dispatched at 9:29 p.m. Thursday, April 2. Officers with the Port Angeles Police Department first arrived and reported all were out of the house, Fire Chief Jake Patterson said in a press release.

Flames were coming from the south side and attic space of the house. It was determined to be accidental, Patterson said in the release. The fire originated in a bedroom and the exact cause is under investigation, he said.

The fire was knocked down by 10 p.m. and fully extinguished by 10:30 p.m., Patterson said.

Along with major damage to two rooms of the house, there was extensive heat and smoke damage throughout the entire house.

The occupants were able to stay with friends/family locally, Patterson said.

They reported seeing smoke in the house and when they went to investigate noted a large amount of smoke and fire around the door to one of the bedrooms. They evacuated the house and called 911.

Clallam 2 Fire Rescue responded with three fire engines, two ambulances, one water tender, three command vehicles and 23 total personnel. Port Angeles Fire Department responded via mutual aid request with one engine and three personnel.

Clallam County Public Utility District and the Port Angeles Police Department also responded to the incident.
