Firefighters in Port Angeles and Sequim will collect donations in decorated fire trucks in the days ahead.
The Port Angeles Fire Department will conduct its 34th annual Operation Candy Cane beginning Saturday and running through Thursday.
Firefighters will drive Santa Claus around town in a 1956 Seagrave fire engine. They will had out candy canes and collect non-perishable food or money for the Port Angeles Food Bank.
The Port Angeles schedule is:
• Saturday: west of I and M streets in west Port Angeles.
• Sunday, Dec. 2: between I and L streets to C Street.
• Monday, Dec. 3: C Street to Lincoln Street.
• Tuesday, Dec. 4: Chase Street to Chambers Street.
• Wednesday, Dec. 5: Jones Street to Golf Course Road.
• Thursday, Dec. 6: above Lauridsen Boulevard.
In Sequim, firefighters with Clallam County Fire District 3 and Scouts with Explorer Post 1003 will collect donations during the annual Toy and Food Brigade from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Dec. 7.
As they travel in a decorated 1939 antique fire truck playing festive music, Santa will hand out candy canes while firefighters collect food and donations for the Sequim Food Bank, and toys and blankets.
The toys and blankets will be distributed by Sequim Community Aid’s Toys for Sequim Kids on Dec. 12 at Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road.
The Sequim schedule is:
• Tuesday: Downtown Sequim, west of Sequim Avenue.
• Wednesday: Downtown Sequim, east of Sequim Avenue.
• Thursday: Emerald Highlands, Elk Creek Apartments and the area of Elk Loop off West Sequim Bay Road.
• Friday, Dec. 7: Makeup day due to inclement weather.
Santa’s Toy and Food Fire Brigade is a partnership between Clallam County Fire District 3, Explorer Post 1003 and IAFF Local 2933.
