First half of Jefferson County property taxes due April 30

PORT TOWNSEND — The first half of the year’s property taxes are due April 30.

Mailed payments must be postmarked, put in a drop box, or brought to the treasurer’s office at the Jefferson County Courthouse at 1820 Jefferson St., by April 30 to avoid penalty and interest charges.

Taxes may be paid in person at the treasurer’s office courthouse between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Four drop boxes are available for payment by check in Jefferson County throughout the month of April.

They are:

• Drop box in rear parking lot of the courthouse.

• Port Townsend 1st Security Bank of Washington.

• Port Hadlock 1st Security Bank of Washington.

• Port Ludlow Sound Community Bank.

Credit card payments may be made online at www.co.jefferson.wa.us/329/Treasurer or by phone at 1-877-812-8072. Instructions for both are on the back of the tax statement. A 2.5 percent fee is charged by the service provider for credit card payments.

Electronic checks may be used to make payments. A $2 service fee is charged by the provider.

Go to the Jefferson County Treasurer’s webpage for instructions and fee amounts.

To request paperless tax statement delivery for 2019 via email instead of hard copies by USPS, sign up by clicking on the link “eNoticesOnline” on the Treasurer’s Office webpage.

Taxpayers who would like a receipt should include a self-addressed stamped envelope with their payment.

For more information, call the treasurer’s office at 360-385-9150.
