A five-vehicle wreck blocked both lanes of U.S. Highway 101 halfway between Port Angeles and Sequim for about 35 minutes Saturday.
One driver, Juan Ramon Ruiz, 54, of Forks, was treated for neck and back injuries and discharged from Olympic Medical Center.
The other four drivers involved in the wreck were not injured. None of the vehicles had passengers.
The State Patrol gave this account:
The wreck occurred at about 10:49 a.m. when an eastbound postal carrier, Marsha Lyn Soloman, 35, was attempting to turn left to deliver mail to residences near Barr Road.
Ruiz, who was driving a Volkswagen Jetta, hit the back of Solomon’s Subaru Legacy, sending it into oncoming traffic.
The Legacy struck a westbound car driven by Shengyi Liu, 54, of Sammamish, which then also crossed the centerline and struck a car driven by William Allen Green, 62, of Port Angeles.
Liu’s car was then hit from behind by a truck driven by Forks resident Brian Kevin Monahan, 54, not to be confused with Forks Mayor Bryon Monohon.
