PORT ANGELES — Steve Hauff, a retired Clallam County engineer and author, will present a five-week class about railroads beginning in January.
The classes, which are sponsored by the Clallam County Historical Society, will start Wednesday, Jan. 11, and will be held at The Museum at the Carnegie, 207 S. Lincoln St.
The classes will run from 10 a.m. to noon on five consecutive Wednesdays.
Sessions during the first three weeks will cover world and U.S. rail history, railroad technology and nomenclature and folklore.
The railroads of Clallam County — now defunct — will be highlighted the fourth week.
The fifth week will focus on the Spruce railroad and riding the rails today.
Hauff has written numerous books and articles about railroading, said Kathy Monds, executive director of the historical society .
The cost for the class series is $30 for members of the historical society and $40 for nonmembers.
