Flag Day flies in the wind

In the photo at right, the Stars and Stripes whip wildly in the wind as Chris Bryan of Whidbey Island walks Monday along East First Street in Port Angeles.

Although there were no special commemorations, Flag Day flew briskly for Old Glory on poles across the North Olympic Peninsula, aided by 15-knot west winds up the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Monday was Flag Day, which is held to commemorate the adoption of the American flag in 1777.
