PORT ANGELES — A flagpole dedication is planned for Tyler Braithwaite, a 17-year-old Sequim boy who was killed in an auto wreck in March, said Tammy Sullenger, Braithwaite’s mother.
American Legion Riders will dedicate the flagpole as part of a private ceremony in Braithwaite’s honor at 1 p.m. Aug. 29.
The event will take place at Braithwaite’s grandparents’ house at 130 N. Jensen Road, east of Port Angeles, Sullenger said.
Braithwaite, who attended Sequim High School, died when the pickup he was driving crashed into a tree on a U.S. Forest Service road south of Sequim on March 28.
Two friends in the truck with him, Rachel Myers, 18, and Michael Fleming, 16, said he swerved to avoid a deer.
A capacity crowd of about 650 friends, family and schoolmates packed the Sequim High School auditorium for a memorial service on April 10.
Sullenger said her son touched many people in the Port Angeles and Sequim areas.
