Flu clinic set at Jefferson Healthcare this weekend

PORT TOWNSEND — Flu shots are available on Saturday during the Jefferson Healthcare Primary Care weekend flu clinic.

The clinic will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jefferson Healthcare Sheridan Clinic in Port Townsend, 915 Sheridan St.

Existing patients can call or text 360-379-8031 to schedule for adults and children 6 months and older.

“Flu vaccination is an important component of an individual’s health plan during the fall and winter seasons,” the hospital said in a press release.

“Every year, the flu season brings with it not just more respiratory illness that includes fevers, coughs and sore throats but also a number of hospitalizations and flu-related deaths.”

Jefferson Healthcare and other healthcare systems across the state are struggling with continued staffing shortages, so public health officials are concerned that a wave of influenza infections would overwhelm strained local hospitals and clinics.

“Protecting all members of our community through vaccination is an important Jefferson Healthcare initiative,” the hospital said.

“By vaccinating families on time, we build a community of immunity around vulnerable populations like babies and seniors.”

No clinics are scheduled in Clallam County this weekend, but shots are available at local pharmacies.
