FORKS — Boys basketball coach Scott Justus is the latest link in the chain of coaches leaving Forks High School.
Justus, 36, has been hired to take over the head coaching job at Nooksack Valley High School.
Nooksack Valley, like Forks, is a 2A school and beat the Spartans 68-67 in a consolation semifinal at the 2000 boys basketball state tournament.
It was during that state game at the Yakima SunDome that Nooksack Valley Athletic Director Russ Elliott noticed Justus’ work.
“We really liked Scott based on what we saw two years ago,” Elliott said Wednesday in a phone interview. “We were just impressed with the respect the kids had for him and how much he got out of the kids.”
