Forks City Council member resigns

PORT ANGELES — Denise Graham loves Forks.

That’s why it’s so hard for her to leave.

At Monday’s City Council meeting, the council is scheduled to accept Graham’s letter of resignation.

That meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. at council chambers, 500 E. Division St., Forks.

Having lived in the area since 1992 when she was transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard Station at LaPush, Graham says it’s now time for her to move on.

She is leaving the council effective Aug. 23 and is planning to be out of town and on her way to her new home of Boise, Idaho, by Aug. 29.

“Now that I’m finishing my master’s degree, I need to look at exploring other opportunities,” said Graham, 40.

“I want to look at getting into higher positions in politics.

“I have a real passion for public service.”

Rod Fleck, Forks city attorney/planner, said Graham will be missed.

“She’s been very involved in the community on issues from education to planning to community projects,” Fleck said.

“A lot of people are going to be saddened to see her go.”
