FORKS — An outpouring of community support followed Thursday in the wake of a fire that heavily damaged an apartment complex Wednesday night.
“It’s just incredible,” Mayor Nedra Reed said.
“This community has always had the ability and the reputation to rally, and they’ve certainly done that.”
Reed said as many as 12 low-income families were living in the eight-unit Peninsula Apartments complex at 210 Fir Ave. when fire broke out about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Three people hospitalized as a result of the fire were released Thursday, Reed said.
Cause of the fire was under investigation, Clallam County Fire District No. 1 Chief Phil Arbeiter said.
Damage estimates weren’t available, but Arbeiter said a single upper-story apartment was destroyed.
