FORKS — Jill Henry’s school photo doesn’t quite say it all.
Jill, an 8-year-old Forks Elementary School third-grader with strawberry-blond braided pigtails and a sweet smile, appears to be a normal happy-go-lucky child.
But hidden behind her smile and active lifestyle of schoolbooks and sports is a serious medical problem — Jill was diagnosed Oct. 7 with leukemia and requires a bone marrow transplant.
Family, friends and community members are rallying support behind Jill and her family — parents Mike and Katrina Henry and sisters Lauren, Jessica and Jamie. Jessica is Jill’s twin.
A Nov. 2 community auction and spaghetti dinner has been scheduled to benefit the family and help cover Jill’s mounting medical expenses.
The event will begin at 5 p.m. in the Forks Elks Lodge, 941 Merchant Road.
Donations of $5 per person will be accepted.
