Forks council looks to fill vacant seat

FORKS — The Forks City Council is accepting applications to fill a vacant seat on the council until 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 22.

The vacancy was created by Nettie Grant’s March 24 resignation. Grant stated that she is moving from Forks and therefore will no longer be qualified for the position.

Grant, who was elected to a four-year term in the November 2023 general election, was sworn in at a January 2024 council meeting.

Under the provisions of RCW 42.12.010 the city council has up to 90 days from the effective date of Grant’s resignation to select a replacement.

Applicants must be registered voters who reside within the city limits.

The individual selected will fill the unexpired port of Grant’s term, which ends Dec. 31, 2027.

Grant’s replacement must also submit a financial disclosure report the the state’s Public Disclosure Commission.

Interested applicants should send a letter of interest, and any other materials they deem pertinent for the council to review, to Caryn DePew, City Clerk/Treasurer, 500 E. Division St., Forks, Washington 98331 or emailed to admin. assistant@forkswashington.org.
