FORKS — A 23-year old Forks man was booked into Jefferson County jail on multiple charges after allegedly fleeing on foot from a traffic stop, the State Patrol said today.
A State Patrol trooper was patrolling in the area of U.S. Highway 101 near Discovery Bay about 2 a.m. Saturday when he observed a white vehicle pass through his radar at 67 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. As the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, it accelerated and turned onto state Route 20 toward Port Townsend.
The vehicle turned into a pullout and stopped just west of Fairmount Hill Road, where the driver, later identified as Brandon S. Miller, fled on foot into a heavily wooded area.
Troopers and Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies began searching for Miller with the assistance of Washington State Patrol aircraft. The fliers located Miller in a heavily wooded area, and led troopers to his location, according to the State Patrol.
Miller was placed under arrest for DUI. A driver’s check revealed that his license was suspended.
