FORKS — The Forks Elks Lodge has stepped back from the brink of extinction after an emergency meeting Wednesday night to sign up officers and volunteers drew 55 people, including 17 non-members.
“We had 10 more people say they would like to sign up. We also had volunteers step up to fill the officer positions,” said Exalted Ruler Ilene Rogers.
“It was a good turnout, it went well. The next step is the board meeting to get organized and be an all volunteer club,” she said.
Board of directors member Paul Hampton said a Saturday meeting of the board brought renewed encouragement.
“We filled our vacant offices,” Hampton said.
