FORKS — A young man missing since Sunday was found safe and in good condition Thursday in some woods east of Forks.
Alexander Cisneros, 18, was found lost and disoriented by searchers more than 5 miles west of his home Thursday morning, said Christina Hoekstra, Cisneros’ aunt.
Cisneros was found after family members, friends and police searched the woods near a rural property above Elk Creek Ridge Road, where police said he was spotted by a resident earlier this week.
A family member who was part of the search team saw him sitting on the ground, shaking from the cold and badly scratched but without any major injuries.
“Everyone is just ecstatic,” said Edwin Hoekstra, Cisneros’ uncle.
Cisneros was taken to Forks Community Hospital, where he was treated for scrapes and scratches, and checked for dehydration and hypothermia.
Cisneros was expected to be kept overnight for observation, and his mother, Anna Cisneros, was with him Thursday afternoon, Christina Hoekstra said.
Circumstances unknown
She said it was unknown how Cisneros went lost but said family members believe he suffered some kind of trauma before his disappearance.
Cisneros recently had moved with his father, Javier Cisneros, to Hoquiam, where he was supposed to begin his senior year at Hoquiam High School on Tuesday.
Police and family members had been looking for Alexander Cisneros, who was last seen at 1 p.m. Sunday, at Alder Grove Mobile Home Park, 1886 Calawah Way, where his mother lives and where he was visiting friends during a day trip to Forks.
“He had only light clothing on, and it has been raining for several days,” said Rick Bart, Forks police administrator, who said there were concerns for the young man’s safety.
Cisneros has no history of running away, and his disappearance was out of character, according to his family.
