Forks Forum hires new editor

FORKS — Forks native Christi Baron was named the new editor of the Forks Forum last Monday.

Baron, 57, said she is excited to be overseeing her hometown newspaper.

“I read the Forum when I was growing up. I’m really excited to be here writing it now,” Baron said.

With a circulation of nearly 5,000, the Forks Forum publishes every Thursday and is delivered to every postal address in the West End of Clallam and Jefferson counties.

A third-generation West Ender, Baron writes the “West End Neighbor” column that has appeared every other Tuesday on the Commentary page of the Peninsula Daily News for the past seven years.

In addition to her editorial duties, Baron also will take over the Forum’s advertising department.

After graduating from Forks High School, Baron attended Washington State University.

Interim editors have been in charge of the Forks Forum on a part-time basis since Chris Cook retired from the post in March.

In October 2011, the Forum was purchased by Sound Publishing, a division of the Surrey, B.C.-based Black Press Group, which also bought the PDN and the Sequim Gazette.

In July, the company announced a reorganization that consolidated advertising and production departments from the three newspapers.

John Brewer is publisher and CEO of all three newspapers.

Baron has been married to Howard Baron for 37 years. The couple have three dogs.

To contact Baron, phone the Forum office at 360-374-3311 or email cbaron@forksforum.com.
