FORKS — A LaPush police officer whose personal handgun was used in a teenage girl’s suicide Sunday violated no department policy, LaPush Police Chief Rich Christensen said Wednesday.
“It wasn’t a duty weapon, so there’s no policy violations,” he said.
The department conducted an internal investigation of the officer this week following 16-year-old Brittany S. Hoschar’s death Sunday evening in Forks.
The 9 mm handgun Hoschar used to kill herself belonged to the officer, who has worked for the department for about four years, Christensen said.
“The whole thing transpired while he was at work,” he said.
