Is the North Olympic Peninsula big enough for two Fourth of July parades?
Forks community officials are concerned a new Independence Day parade in Port Angeles could damage their longstanding Forks Old Fashioned 4th of July.
The Forks celebration has been a 60-year tradition for many residents on the Peninsula.
The showcase of the weekend-long event is a grand parade, with dignitaries waving from cars and logging trucks, floats and marching bands drawn from across Clallam and Jefferson counties.
It begins at noon on the Fourth, which this year is on a Thursday.
The start of the Port Angeles parade was moved backward to 5 p.m. after objections from the Forks Chamber of Commerce,
It was originally scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
