FORKS AND PORT TOWNSEND are among the 25 state Department of Licensing offices that Gov. Chris Gregoire plans to close as part of a government streamlining plan.
Communities left without a licensing office could get a “self-service” kiosk, Gregoire said.
Under the governor’s plan, office closures would be conducted in five waves over the next two years:
Forks and Port Townsend are scheduled to be closed this year, during dates to be determined between September and December.
Their closures would leave only two Department of Licensing offices on the North Olympic Peninsula — Port Angeles (full service) and Sequim (vehicle and boating licenses only).
