Forks man, 91, badly hurt in wreck

BEAVER — A 91-year-old Forks man was badly hurt when a Clallam Bay driver hit his car.

The wreck at the intersection of U.S. Highway 101 and Beaver Avenue was at 1:57 p.m. Friday.

Eugene E. Spaulding was listed in serious condition in intensive care at Harborview Medical Center later Friday. An update on his condition was not available Saturday.

John L. McPherson, 40, of Clallam Bay, was not injured, according to the State Patrol.

McPherson, traveling eastbound on Highway 101, attempted a left turn onto Beaver Avenue and his van collided with the westbound sedan driven by Spaulding, the State Patrol said.

Spaulding’s car left the roadway to the right, while McPherson’s rotated and came to rest in the westbound lane.

McPherson is under investigation, the State Patrol said.
