LA PUSH — A Forks man was listed in serious condition Friday morning at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after his pickup truck left the roadway late Thursday night south of La Push.
Joseph K. Lester, 26, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet GMT-400 pickup truck westbound on state Highway 110 at milepost 10.8 shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, the State Patrol said. The truck left the roadway into the westbound ditch, then Lester overcorrected toward the eastbound ditch.
The truck struck the embankment and rolled through the eastbound lane and came to rest in both lanes of the roadway, the State Patrol said.
Lester was airlifted to Harborview with unspecified injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt and drugs or alcohol were involved, the State Patrol said.
Lester was cited for DUI, operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, speed too fast for conditions and wheels off the roadway.
The truck sustained reportable damage.
