Forks mayor under protection after receiving two more anonymous letters

FORKS — Mayor Nedra Reed — on the advice of law enforcement — has taken protective measures to protect herself after receiving three anonymous letters.

The first letter, received at Reed’s office at Forks City Hall on April 10, contained a large framing nail and said:

“For furthering the cause of Satan and destroying the cause of Christ/By supporting sexual harassment and pornography/For protecting and supporting moral and spiritual bankruptcy/For each and every lie you tell and support/For the hypocrite you are/Here’s your nail.”

The letter’s hand-printed return address was only “A of L.”

Reed would not reveal the contents of the other two letters, both addressed to her which arrived at her office last week.

“We have been asked by law enforcement not to make the contents available,” Reed said Saturday.

She said she also has been advised not to say what personal security measures she is taking.

She would not comment on whether or not the letters threatened her.

“It is an active police investigation, and I’m not at liberty to comment,” she said.
