FORKS — A dream more than two decades in the making is coming true — the West End will have a pool.
Supporters of developing an aquatic recreation center in Forks — officially called the Quillayute Valley Aquatic Center — have raised about $161,000 for start-up and operational funding needs.
Officials from the Ben B. Cheney Foundation of Tacoma announced Wednesday they would provide $35,000 in support for the pool, topping the $150,000 fund-raising goal for start-up costs.
“It is hard to believe it is actually happening,” said Barb Gronseth, Quillayute Valley Park and Recreation District board chairwoman.
