FORKS — Citing increasing rates and alleged substandard service, city officials are looking into expanding cable television opportunities for residents.
Bellevue-based Millennium Digital Media currently holds the only cable television franchise in the city.
That contract doesn’t expire until 2008.
But telecommunications infrastructure, like completion of a fiber-optic loop, is scheduled for completion next year, possibly expanding options for television and cable service in the city at competitive rates, officials say.
Millennium Digital, which is operating under a 25-year contract in Forks, also provides services in Port Townsend and Jefferson County, which are not currently seeking a new cable provider.
