Forks site of several Border Patrol detentions

A third of the foreign nationals that the Blaine Sector Border Patrol listed has having been detained between Dec. 5-18 were from Clallam County, according to two weeks of reports issued by the sector’s public affairs office.

Four of the 12 people listed as having been arrested in the sector, which includes Alaska, Oregon and the western half of Washington, were in or near Forks, according to the reports.

The reports are incomplete and include only arrests chosen by sector officials.

Reports do not include genders or ages.

A citizen of Mexico who had a prior conviction for domestic violence and who had been previously removed from the U.S. was arrested Dec. 6 near Forks

A Guatemalan citizen was arrested near Forks on Dec. 10. The person had been previously apprehended by Blaine Sector agents.

Two people — one a citizen of Mexico, the other a Guatemalan — were arrested Dec. 15 on a forest road near Forks by Border Patrol agents who were patrolling the West End.

Here are other incidents listed in the report, in which all of those arrested were processed for removal from the U.S.:

■ Dec. 6: A citizen of Costa Rica was arrested after agents responded to a request for assistance from the Blaine Police Department.

■ Dec. 10: Agents arrested a Guatemalan citizen with an extensive criminal history, including driving under the influence, hit-and-run, harassment and assault, who had been scheduled for release from the Whatcom County Detention Center in Bellingham.

■ Dec. 11: A Blaine police officer’s request for assistance with an investigation into a possible burglary resulted in the arrest of a Mexican national.

■ Dec. 13: Agents arrested a Canadian citizen who was leaving Peace Arch Park at the Blaine border crossing while the park was closed. The person admitted crossing the border immediately before the arrest.

■ Dec. 13: Two Mexican nationals were arrested who were hiding in the woods near the border east of Blaine.

■ Dec. 17: Agents arrested a Mexican citizen they “encountered” near the border.

■ Dec. 18: Agents arrested a Mexican citizen who had been convicted of driving under the influence and hit-and-run. The person had been scheduled from release from the Whatcom County Detention Center.

■ Dec. 18: A citizen of Pakistan was arrested near Lynden after agents responded to a report of a person crossing the border illegally into the U.S. Agents arrested the person about one mile south of the international boundary.

Border Patrol officials do not release information about the arrests beyond that which is listed in the reports.
