PORT HADLOCK – Rex Whipple, former Chimacum High School principal, is free and has registered as a sex offender, Jefferson County sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.
Whipple was released on Sunday – an early release because of good behavior – from the Jefferson County jail.
He registered as a sex offender on Monday,
“Yes, he did come in yesterday and register,” said Jefferson County Sheriff’s Detective Joe Nole on Tuesday.
He said Whipple is living now in Jefferson County but wouldn’t say where exactly.
“He told me had plans to go back to Arizona,” Nole said.
Following Whipple’s March 2006 arrest and before his October 2006 trial, Whipple moved to Arizona where he has family and did construction work.
Whipple was released after less than four months of his six month sentence because of good behavior, said Jefferson County Corrections Sgt. Gary Maxfield.
“He had no infractions and no problems while he was here,” said Maxfield.
“He was a model prisoner.”
He said Whipple also worked in the kitchen of the jail to reduce his sentence.
