PORT ANGELES — A familiar face is among the five applicants so far for the City Council seat left vacant by the Feb. 3 death of Jack Pittis.
Former City Councilman and Mayor Richard Headrick, who was unseated by current Councilwoman Betsy Wharton during the Nov. 8 general election, has submitted an application to return to the council.
The other applicants are Peter Ripley, publisher of the online Port Angeles Journal; Patrick Downie of Volunteer Chore Service, who was a longtime planning commissioner; former Clallam Transit System General Manager Dan DiGuilio; and Neil Spicher, a retired PacBell construction engineer and English teacher.
