PORT TOWNSEND — The Fort Worden Advisory Committee is seeking applicants for two at-large positions.
The positions would be filled in January. Committee membership is for a three-year term.
The deadline for receiving applications is Nov. 7.
Finalists will be invited to interview at the Nov. 16 advisory committee meeting.
The advisory committee was established in 1973 by the state Parks and Recreation Commission to provide recommendations for the development and operation of Fort Worden State Park.
The 16-member panel includes representatives of state park leadership, the Fort Worden Public Development Authority, Resident Partners, Interpretive and Friends groups, and local government.
Six at-large members represent the community.
The committee meets bimonthly on the third Thursday of odd-numbered months at noon at Fort Worden State Park.
Specific interests include supporting the vision, mission and goals of Washington State Parks; coordinating diverse special interest groups and stakeholders; and working toward a sustainable future for Fort Worden State Park as a Lifelong Learning Center.
At this time, the panel seeks to expand its partnerships and interaction with community groups.
Successful applicants will be prepared to actively participate in the pursuit of these interests.
Each applicant must submit a letter providing contact information and outlining specific interests and skills.
Submissions to the attention of Vice Chair David Given will be accepted by email at givley@aol.com or can be mailed to Elections, Fort Worden Advisory Committee, 200 Battery Way, Port Townsend, WA 98368.
