PORT ANGELES — Four men are expected to be charged with assault in Clallam County Superior Court this week after a reported robbery at a west Port Angeles RV park resulted in the victim allegedly assaulting one of his alleged attackers.
Officers arrested Joshua Allen Cabe, 26, of Forks; Ordez Eugene Kompkoff, 19; and Zachary Michael Taylor, 20, of Port Angeles last week in connection with allegedly attacking and robbing Daniel Joseph Jenkins, 21, at the Welcome Inn Trailer and RV Park along U.S. Highway 101 just after midnight Tuesday.
Police said the three men allegedly forced their way into Jenkins’ mobile home, attacked him, held him at knifepoint and stole numerous items including his computer, cellphone, cash — and even the shoes off his feet.
Jenkins was treated for his injuries and released from Olympic Medical Center.
A day later, officers arrested Jenkins after learning he allegedly assaulted Taylor at the RV park with a metal pipe at about 10 o’clock Tuesday evening, sending Taylor to the hospital with a laceration on the back of his head.
Cabe, Kompkoff and Taylor remained in the Clallam County jail Saturday, each booked for investigation of one count of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary, and being held on $20,000 bail.
Cabe also was booked for investigation of second-degree theft.
Jenkins, who was not listed on the jail roster Saturday, had been booked for investigation of one count of second-degree assault.
Jenkins and Taylor are expected to be charged in Clallam County Superior Court on Monday, with Cabe and Kompkoff scheduled for Tuesday.
Police account
Police arrest reports gave this account of the incidents:
Officers were first called to the RV park just after midnight Tuesday when a witness called police to report suspicious circumstances after seeing three men leaving a mobile home, one of whom reportedly had a handgun.
Officers arrived to find blood on the floor but no one in the mobile home and later found Jenkins inside another trailer in the park with blood on his face.
Jenkins told police that Cabe, Kompkoff and Taylor had come into his trailer uninvited and attacked him, with Jenkins “bear-hugging” Cabe and Taylor after a struggle.
Kompkoff then threatened Jenkins with a knife and told him to release the other two men.
The three began to hit and punch Jenkins “while making references to his sex offender registration,” Police Cpl. Josh Powless wrote.
According to Superior Court documents, Jenkins pleaded guilty in 2009 to third-degree child molestation for having inappropriate sexual contact with a Port Angeles girl between the ages of 14 and 16 between April 2005 and April 2006.
Jenkins told police the three men then took numerous personal belongings of his and left.
At 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called back to the Welcome Inn on the report of an assault, learning from the reporting party that Jenkins allegedly had attacked Taylor with a metal pipe within the previous hour.
Interviews conducted
Officers spoke with park residents about the assault and later interviewed Taylor at OMC, where he told police Jenkins had hit him with a metal pipe while Taylor was in a trailer at the Welcome Inn.
After Jenkins was arrested Wednesday, he told police he had hit Taylor with the metal pipe in the trailer after Taylor pulled a gun on him.
Police arrested Taylor on Wednesday after he was discharged from OMC and Cabe on Thursday, then took Kompkoff into custody after he turned himself in at the county courthouse at about 1 a.m. Friday.
