Entrance fees at national parks across the country, including Olympic, will be waived this weekend, Aug. 15-16.
Entrance fees will be waived at the 147 sites across the country that charge for admission. The 244 other parks, such as North Cascades National Park in the north part of the state, do not charge entrance fees.
Mount Rainier National Park acting Superintendent Randy King says the fee-free weekend, the third this summer, is to encourage Americans seeking affordable vacations to visit the national parks.
