Free lunches will be served to youngsters from 1 to 18 in Port Angeles and Sequim beginning Monday.
First Step Family Support Center is working with Sodexo Food Services in Port Angeles.
The program is offered through the Summer Food Service Program, administered by the state Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and funded by the USDA.
The lunch will include milk, a meat or other source of protein, fruits/vegetables and bread.
Lunches will be distributed Mondays through Fridays from this Monday through Aug. 30, excluding the Fourth of July, at the following Port Angeles locations:
â– Jefferson Elementary School, 218 W. 12th St., from 11:45 a.m. to noon.
â– Roosevelt Elementary School, 106 Monroe Road, from 12:15 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
â– Mount Angeles Unit Boys & Girls Club, 2620 S. Francis St., from 12:40 p.m. to 12:55 p.m.
â– Dream Playground on Race Street across from Civic Field, from 1:05 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
â– Shane Park on South G Street from 1:30 p.m. to 1:40 p.m.
â– Evergreen Family Village, 2203 W. 18th St., from 1:50 p.m. to 2:10 p.m.
From Mondays through Thursdays, First Step, 325 E. Sixth St., will distribute lunch from 2:25 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.
Parents do not have to accompany their children for the child to receive a free lunch.
Sequim lunches
In Sequim, free lunches will be offered at three locations at noon Mondays through Fridays through Aug. 30.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula are working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and community volunteers to present the lunches.
Lunches will be served at:
â– Sequim unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula, 400 W. Fir St.
â– Carrie Blake Park Picnic Shelter, 202 N. Blake Ave.
â– Elk Creek Apartments, 90 S. Rhodefer Road.
There will be no lunch service on the Fourth of July in either Port Angeles or Sequim.
