IF YOU’RE HEADED toward Central Washington today (Friday):
Freezing rain is falling across the region, making many road and highways hazardous.
Schools were canceled in Moses Lake and Ephrata, and the National Weather Service issued a “hazardous weather outlook” for the upper Columbia Basin and the Wenatchee area.
Colder air is pushing into the Central Washington and Eastern Washington and is expected to produce temperatures 10 to 20 degrees below normal, with the possibility of heavy snowfall by the middle of next week.
On the North Olympic Peninsula, a combination of wind, clouds and rain — possibly mixed with snow at times (and the snow level down to 100 feet in some areas on Saturday) — is expected through this weekend.
