PORT LUDLOW — Friends of Swansonville, a nonprofit community group in Port Ludlow, can now write grants and accept tax-deductible donations.
The group has entered into a fiscal agreement with the Jefferson County Historical Society (JCHS) Board of Trustees.
The agreement allows Friends of Swansonville to fundraise under the historical society’s nonprofit status, according to a news release.
Friends of Swansonville’s mission is to restore and preserve the last historic community building in Port Ludlow, known as the Swansonville Church, and to purchase the parsonage home next door to create a community space with parking and utilities.
Full restoration of the buildings will allow for community use and enjoyment, and it will allow Friends of Swansonville to share the history of the pioneer families who settled the area, all of whom worked for the mill in Port Ludlow.
