VFW POST 4760 in Sequim has organized two events this weekend benefiting the people made homeless when the apartment complex at 140 E. Washington St. burned last week.
A spaghetti dinner fund-raiser will take place from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today. Admission is $5 per person, and the event is open to the public.
The VFW post’s regular dance from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday will have a collection jar and a raffle, with proceeds also benefiting the fire victims.
The post, at 169 E. Washington St., is located across the street from the burned apartments.
The Sequim Association of Realtors has set up a unified fund into which donations from the community can be made for victims of the May 11 fire.
Checks payable to “SAR Fire Fund” can be deposited into the account at Sound Community Bank, 541 N Fifth Ave., Sequim, or taken to any real estate office in Sequim. All donations will go to victims with nothing taken out for administration, said Realtors’ association treasurer Tom Cantwell.
