Two galas offered those on the North Olympic Peninsula a chance to dress up in their finest, walk the red carpet and watch the Academy Awards on Sunday night.
At Port Angeles’ “Hollywood Nights,” more than 250 people showed to enjoy the second annual event.
The silent auction tripled the donations from last year, said Olympic Medical Center Foundation Executive Director Bruce Skinner.
“It is a great event that has fabulous attendance and helps us raise a lot of money for the foundation,” Skinner said.
“It is a lot of fun”
The Port Townsend event benefited the Port Townsend Film Festival.
More than 120 people attended.
Auction items included everything from a private screening and popcorn for 12 at The Rose Theatre, to baking with Frank at Pane d’Amore, to gourmet dinner and a movie (“Julie & Julia”) complete with the screenplay and passes, to art books from the Museum of Northwest Art.
At both parties “celebrities” showed up, including actresses playing Mae West at both events.
