PORT ANGELES — The blaze that leveled a Gales Addition double-wide mobile home last week was not intentionally set, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department announced.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Department and Clallam County Fire District No. 2 ruled out arson as the cause of the fire that destroyed Fred Williams’ residence at 2023 E. Fourth Ave. on Tuesday night.

Williams did not have insurance on the residence.

The fire was very hot and burned several vehicles surrounding the residence.

Because of the heat and a series of flare-ups in later hours, investigators waited until Wednesday to take a closer look.

Although investigators found no indication the fire was intentionally set, they could not determine where the fire started, they said.
