Garage a total loss in fire on Old Olympic Highway

Minor damage done to house; no one injured

PORT ANGELES — A garage fire on Old Olympic Highway resulted in a total loss of the structure, according to Clallam County Fire District 3.

Crews used a large-diameter hose Sunday to extinguish the flames in the garage of the home at 3220 Old Olympic Highway, a press release stated.

A section of the ceiling was pulled in the house to ensure that there was no active fire in the attic. Crews found only smoke.

The firewall between the garage and the home remained intact, creating separation between the home and the garage, thus keeping the fire out of the house.

The home was occupied at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.

The home suffered some minor damage, and the owners were able to remain in it.

The structural loss is estimated at $60,000. The contents loss estimation is $40,000.

The investigation of how the fire started is ongoing.
