PORT ANGELES — A weekend structure fire resulted in the total loss of a garage and some nearby standing structures, the Port Angeles Fire Department reported.
At 3:43 a.m. Sunday, the Port Angeles Fire Department (PAFD) was dispatched to a fire in the 300 block of Lower Elwha Road. Clallam County Fire District 2 was automatically dispatched to provide support due to an automatic mutual aid agreement.
Once crews arrived, they observed a fully detached garage on fire with flames taller than 30 feet. The resident already had evacuated his residence.
“Crews pulled multiple handlines to get as much water on the fire as fast as possible,” the press release stated.
Personnel protected the house that was about 10 feet from the garage, PAFD said.
Between both agencies, four engines, one ladder truck and one tender responded to the incident.
The cause of the fire was under investigation by the county fire marshal’s office.
