Two donkeys suffered minor lacerations late Monday night or early Tuesday in a cougar attack in the Gardiner area.
The injuries weren’t life-threatening.
Owner Patty Kyle reported the attack to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife officers Tuesday morning.
Kyle said the donkeys were on her remote property south of the central Gardiner area.
Just over two weeks ago, a pig had to be euthanized after being attacked at a West Sequim Bay residence. Other attacks on animals by cougars have been reported near Lake Leland and Chimacum in Jefferson County.
Two young women from Sequim jumped into the Dungeness River after being chased by a cougar in mid-January.
There have also been recent cougar sightings in the area near the Sequim Post Office and at a Sequim apartment complex.
