GARDINER — Like a thousand shivery, silver icicles, white lights hang from the eves of the bluish-gray, multilevel home.
Red, blue and green hues twinkle invitingly from behind window panes, and outdoor shrubbery beds are covered with blankets of warm Christmas colors.
Not far away, a lighted Nativity scene sits on the lawn.
Up Gardiner Beach Road, trolls sit silent sentinel to the Christmas handiwork of John Freeze.
Christmas lighting isn’t unusual on the North Olympic Peninsula. Other homes have larger, more decorative displays — but few, if any, were designed and strung by a 13-year-old.
Freeze has a newly found flair for holiday decorating. The design and the neatly installed lights and decorations show this wasn’t just a weekend adventure.
