PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Film Institute will show its second Global Lens series film of the season, “About 111 Girls,” at the Fort Worden State Park Schoolhouse on Thursday night.
Admission is free to the 7 p.m. screening, and moviegoers are invited to stay for a discussion afterward.
The 2012 film is from Iraq, but it’s about a government worker traveling across Iranian Kurdistan.
Along with his driver and a young guide, he’s on a mission to stop 111 young Kurdish women from committing suicide in protest against conditions that have left them spinsters.
At 79 minutes long, “About 111 Girls” is in Farsi and Kurdish with English subtitles.
Parking passes are provided for Thursday’s film screening at Fort Worden, 200 Battery Way.
